Did you know?
In 2006/07 we sold lottery products totalling over $599
million.
Lotterywest’s operating costs account for around 7%
of our sales income and another 8% goes in commission to the
Lotterywest retailers who sell our games.
We have no shareholders and apart from the prizes to our
players and our operating costs, all the money spent on our
games is returned to the Western Australian community.
Public hospitals, sporting organisations, arts groups and
thousands of charities and community groups are the biggest
winners of all from our business.

Established in 1933 as the Lotteries Commission, we are the
official state lottery for Western Australia. Unlike any other
Australian lottery, we not only sell lottery games, we also
distribute the profits from our games directly to the Western
Australian community.
Through a statewide network of Lotterywest retailers we
sell Lotto style games (Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday Lotto, Oz
Lotto and Powerball), Scratch’n’Win instant lottery tickets,
Soccer Pools and Cash 3.
All the profits from our games go back to the Western
Australian community. Under our legislation, Western Australia’s
public hospitals, sports groups and arts organisations receive a
set percentage of our lottery sales each year. We also make
hundreds of Lotterywest grants each year
to community groups and local government authorities.
